If a wall isn't there to protect you, you're just contained.

For Ellis Avi and the citizens of Idyll, the skyscraping wall surrounding the city has kept them safe for sixty years.

But peace comes at a cost. After a failed rebellion within their walls, the history of Idyll is as permanent as the marks on their skin. Every class was marked, but the spotted faces of the Estranged serve as a constant reminder of the plague and an apology for the rebellion.

For decades, the Honour of the Markings upheld peace within the walls of Idyll. However, the whole system topples when Ellis' father, the king, is murdered at a wall ceremony. With a killer on the loose, the Estranged are pegged as traitors. When Section 56 is banished, Ellis doesn't know if anyone will survive.

If Ellis can't find the killer and convince his uncles otherwise, an entire race will be exiled. When he finally figures out the truth, Ellis is willing to risk it all.

The Honour of the Markings was a warning. Another man's blood is your own. If he fails, everyone will fall.

About the Author

The Shamings is my debut novel. I've always loved reading YA novels and was inspired to write a novel when two of my best friends moved across the world to Abu Dhabi. My wife was expecting at the time and often was exhausted after working all day. I began filling all my spare time imagining a world where you may never see your loved ones again.  So many years later, I finally self published my novel.

My wife and I have three boys that keep us on the run on a daily basis. I have a few roles that could define me, but definitely being a father has been life changing for me. I also spend a lot of time mentoring kids as a teacher and coach. When I'm not working, I like to travel and spend my days outdoors.
